Smith Center for Healing and the Arts Rebrand & Website
A DC nonprofit offering free and low-cost whole-person support for people affected by cancer, through community, creativity, and the arts
Supporting people through cancer. Celebrating the healing power of art. Building a website as welcoming as the center itself.
Smith Center for Healing and the Arts, in Washington, DC, provides whole-person care and healing for adults affected by cancer and anyone seeking creativity, healing and wellness. When new leadership set out to reposition the organization, years of growth had left its messaging generic and its website sprawling, with thousands of pages added over time.
Back Pocket Media led a full rebrand and website redesign, launched in September 2025. Working with staff and leadership, we clarified the brand and sorted through thousands of pages to build a site that’s simple to navigate, with clear paths for each audience, a program calendar with online registration, and a donation experience that covers every way supporters give. Today we’re an ongoing partner, managing Smith Center’s Google Ads and SEO, keeping gallery and event pages current, setting up donation campaigns, and maintaining the site’s health.
The result is a website that feels like walking through Smith Center’s doors: welcoming, calm and easy to navigate, so people facing cancer can find support quickly.
