Jess Ferko—the founder of Back Pocket Media—has her hands in every website project we create, and acts as an integral member of other agencies’ creative teams on large digital projects.
She has over 25 years’ experience in award-winning, comprehensive campaigns utilizing online and offline media. With hands-on experience ranging from information architecture to design to development, she has the expertise to create strategies and implement tactics that use the best combination of media to achieve her clients’ business objectives.
Prior to starting Back Pocket Media, Jess was Director for Creative Services at Qorvis Communications in Washington, DC. Jess managed large-scale interactive, widget, social networking, and print projects for clients like Sun Microsystems, Roslyn Business Improvement District, The Case Foundation, Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation, Marlo Furniture and Mestel Legal Placement.
Jess was also Director of Technology + Design at Spectrum Science Communications, a health and science-focused communications firm working with non-profits, advocacy groups and large global enterprises. Accounts included P&G Beauty Science, Pfizer, American Society for Microbiology, and Lung Cancer Alliance, Biogen-Idec. She was instrumental in integrating ebusiness approaches into Spectrum’s daily public relations approaches and educated her client’s audience through activities such as speaking at Multiple Sclerosis Advocate Day promoting the caregiver support benefits of blogging.
She also served as Senior Director of eBusiness Strategies for the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) where she lead the department responsible for online brand penetration, marketing tactics, user experience, web metrics, and design of websites and online promotions. During her two-year position, she collaborated on over 75 web projects with marketing, public relations, events, advocacy, and information technology departments.
