USCNL Transitional Website
A nonpartisan resource protecting and strengthening nonprofits and civic participation in the U.S.
A new name. A distinct identity. A transitional site that keeps every hard-won search ranking intact.
The U.S. Center for Nonprofit Law (USCNL), an initiative of the International Center for Not-for-Profit Law (ICNL), is a trusted resource for organizations, advocates and policymakers tracking the laws that shape civic space in the United States. Its widely cited trackers on protest laws and congressional investigations draw much of its audience through search and news links. When the program became USCNL in September 2026, it needed its own identity inside the very international icnl.org, without losing the search rankings it had worked hard to earn.
Back Pocket Media gave USCNL its own look and navigation within icnl.org, on a tight timeline and without changing a single web address. Instead of a full redesign, we built a USCNL template that can be switched on page by page, swapping the header, footer, navigation and colors in one move. We restyled the trackers and maps in USCNL’s new palette while keeping all their functionality, pointed uscnl.org to the new homepage, and switched each page over on the live site using a release checklist, followed by training for the USCNL team.
The result is a website that lets USCNL speak as its own organization, while every existing link, citation and ranking keeps working.
