APSIA Website and Member Portal
DEDICATED TO THE IMPROVEMENT OF GRADUATE EDUCATION IN INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS
APSIA brings together the leading graduate schools around the world that specialize in international affairs. The association works to strengthen members and affiliates by gathering information and sharing ideas as well as connecting prospective students and employers with member schools.
We worked with APSIA on their initial rebranding effort to meet the objective of better verbally and visually communicate its benefits to member schools and global international affairs students. This rebranding strategy and new messaging was incorporated into a complete website overhaul with a new look and content—and dramatically improved functionality so that the two-person communications team could maintain it easily, by leveraging members as content contributors while still maintaining brand control and approval.
We collaborated with the client team to create functionality across the site that served to bring students and members together. We developed a new member portal with various levels of access to content, tools and resources. This allows each member to have a secure interface to update their own profile, events, job opportunities, news and stories which will be featured throughout the website. We wrote two quizzes to help students find the graduate programs that best fit their needs and connect them directly with school administrators. The site includes EventBrite integration, streamlined WordPress administration for the complex system, and custom Google Analytics reports that give the APSIA communications director a faster, easier way to share the team’s quantified wins with the board of directors and all member schools.
Since the original redesign and architecture, we have refreshed the look, optimized the architecture and are applying the fresh approach over the proven functionality. The results speak for themselves: since the launch of the site, internship submissions have grown by 738%, direct visits (brand awareness) are up by 139% and social media visitors have grown by 57%.
