Project Description

APSIA.org Website

APSIA completed a rebranding effort to better verbally and visually communicated its benefits to its member schools and global international affairs students. This rebranding strategy and new messaging needed to be implemented through a complete website overhaul that had a new look and content, but also better functionality so that the two-person Communications Department could leverage members as content contributors while still maintaining brand control and approval.

We worked with APSIA to create functionality across the site that served students and members to bring them together. We developed a new member portal with various levels of access to content, tools and resources. This allowed each member to have a secure interface to update their own profile, events, job opportunities, news and stories which would be featured throughout the apsia.org website. We created two quizzes to help students find the graduate programs that fit their needs and put them in touch with school administrators. The site includes EventBrite integration, simple WordPress administration for a complex system, and custom Google Analytics reports that give the APSIA Communications Director measurements to share concrete successes with the board and all member schools.

"I've had the good fortune of working closely with Jess over the last few years on several large scale projects. As a lead project manager, she has the unique ability to keep track of every minor detail while also keeping a large team on track to successfully deliver high-quality work on time and on budget. It is evident from working with Jess that has a strong understanding of UX, UI and development processes as well as many years of experience working with clients and teams to manage successful projects. It is an absolute pleasure working with her."
Working with Jess is a dream. She's a wonderful partner, problem solver, and top-notch developer. I have worked with her several times over the past few years, and have gone back to her with several projects. Highly recommend!
Your Content Goes HereJess Ferko saved our website and enabled us to attract and hold the attention of thousands more visitors. Our legacy site was hard coded and user-unfriendly in the extreme, but our subject matter – disaster relief - was attracting an increasing number of visitors to our site. During peak attention periods we were perilously close to crashing as our website and our phone system ran on a single cable (we changed that first). We hired Jess to give our website more agile, malleable architecture, and to modernize the graphics to make it more interesting and user-friendly. Jess did all this and more; she made herself available to us 24/7 during peak site visitation times and changed graphics when we needed her to. She served us with excellence in every aspect – coding, architecture, hardware and software, graphics, art and text and interfacing with other computer systems in our office. She was highly knowledgeable, resourceful and a pleasure to work with. Jess is a miracle-worker and I recommend her without reservation.
Jess Ferko has been our "go to" person for all our front end WordPress work. She has an excellent command of layout, HTML, CSS and JavaScript. She's a good troubleshooter and is conversant with the mechanics of WordPress such as MySql and PHP. She is very efficient with solid project management skills. Highly recommended!

Jess Ferko of Back Pocket Media lead a complete overhaul of our nonprofit's website (Smith Center for Healing and the Arts). She was highly skilled, wonderful to work with and her pricing was competitive. When people ask me for recommendations on website consultants, Jess is the first and only person I mention.
